National Law Journal Honors Les Payne as a Trailblazer Among Plaintiffs Lawyers
Heim, Payne & Chorush co-founder Les Payne is among a select group of trial lawyers included in the National Law Journal’s 2021 list of “Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazers.”
One of only 52 attorneys honored nationwide, Mr. Payne was selected based on his work on behalf of patent owners and businesses in patent infringement litigation at the trial court level, as well as at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in inter partes review proceedings at the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Payne was also noted for the key role he played in Commil USA v. Cisco, which resulted in a landmark opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of inducing infringement.
The NLJ notes that Mr. Payne is anticipating how President Biden’s administration could impact intellectual property law:
Payne is hopeful the new administration will continue to promote the strength of patents. “It remains to be seen how the Biden administration approaches IP, but I think the momentum is on the right side. The pendulum had swung during the Obama administration to the defense side, and it hasn’t come back to where it should be in terms of a level playing field.
