Texas Lawyer Names Miranda Jones Top Woman in Intellectual Property Law
HOUSTON – Texas Lawyer magazine has singled out Heim, Payne & Chorush partner Miranda Jones as its “Top Woman in IP” for the publication’s 2018 Professional Excellence honors.
The statewide recognition is based on Ms. Jones’ extensive intellectual property law experience and numerous successes and professional accomplishments, which include trial counsel leadership roles in multimillion-dollar patent infringement litigation and significant appellate work at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
“Texas has some of the best intellectual property lawyers at work, and we pride ourselves at this firm for having the very best and brightest,” said firm co-founder Mike Heim. “This important recognition confirms what we all know – that Miranda is simply an outstanding IP lawyer who does great work for her clients every day.”
Based in Houston, Ms. Jones is a partner in the firm’s national patent litigation practice group, representing patent holders as trial and appellate counsel in infringement litigation involving new technology in cutting-edge areas. She is a key member of the firm’s practice group focusing on Inter Partes Review challenges before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Her practice also includes patent-related pharmaceutical antitrust litigation against companies that abuse the patent system to delay generic drug products from coming to the market.
Ms. Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and completed a prestigious clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Federal Circuit. She is an accomplished legal writer and has been called upon on two occasions to draft U.S. Supreme Court amicus briefs on behalf of law professors.
